NG1 Visa Application Procedures

NG1 Visa – What Is It?

According to the regulations of Law No. 47/2014/QH13 effective from January 1, 2015, the NG1 visa, also known as diplomatic or official visa, is a type of visa issued to members of delegations invited by the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the President, the Chairman of the National Assembly, and the Prime Minister.

Purpose of NG1 Visa

For this type of visa, foreign guests can obtain the visa at the visa issuing agencies abroad or at international ports of entry in Vietnam.

Validity Period of NG1 Visa

This type of visa has a maximum validity period of 12 months (unlike the A1 category, which was previously valid for 30 days or more). Therefore, an NG1 visa can be issued for up to 1 year, and temporary residence cards under the NG1 category are not issued.

Requirements for Obtaining NG1 Visa

The conditions for obtaining the NG1 visa include:

  • A passport or travel document with international travel validity (mandatory).
  • An invitation letter or guarantee from a government organization.
  • In cases where the invited foreigner has multiple passports, only one passport should be used for the application and immigration procedures in Vietnam.

Procedures for Obtaining a New NG1 Visa

  • Application for a new 12-month NG1 visa for foreigners.
  • Original passport with at least 13 months of validity.
  • Types of visas and duration of stay.
  • Confirmation letter of being a member of the invited delegation by the General Secretary, the President, the Chairman of the National Assembly, or the Prime Minister.
  • Application letter for an entry permit according to form NA2.

Application Submission Location: Immigration Department.

Processing Time: Within 5 working days from the date of submission.

Procedures for Extending NG1 Visa for Foreigners

The extension application includes:

  • Original passport of the foreigner.
  • Document or proof of being a member of the invited delegation by the General Secretary, the President, the Chairman of the National Assembly, or the Prime Minister.
  • Extension application form according to form NG1.

Location for Submitting Extension Applications for NG1 Visa: Immigration Department.

Processing Time for Extension Applications: Within 5 working days from the date of submission.
