NG2 Visa Application Procedures

1. What is NG2 Visa?

Legal Basis:

  • Law No. 47/2014/QH13
  • Law No. 51/2019/QH14

According to these laws, NG2 Visa, also known as a visa permit, is issued to foreign nationals who are invited members of the permanent Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Vice Presidents, Vice Chairpersons of the National Assembly, Deputy Prime Ministers, Chairpersons of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court, Head of the Supreme People’s Procuracy, State Auditor General; invited members of equivalent rank from ministries, Bureaus of the Central Committee, provincial Party Committees, district Party Committees, Presidents of People’s Councils, Chairpersons of provincial People’s Committees, and centrally governed cities when entering Vietnam. This visa, denoted as NG2, replaced the previous designations A1 and B1, effective from January 1, 2015.

Validity of NG2 Visa: As per the visa regulations, the NG2 Visa is issued for a maximum period of 12 months and cannot be converted for other immigration purposes. Therefore, NG2 visas are granted with a maximum validity of 12 months and temporary residence permits (NG2) cannot be issued.

Requirements for NG2 Visa: To be eligible for NG2 Visa, foreign nationals must possess:

  • A valid passport.
  • An invitation letter or sponsorship from a competent individual or organization in Vietnam.

Procedure for Applying for a New NG2 Visa: The application for a new 12-month NG2 Visa for foreign nationals requires the following documents:

  • Original passport with a validity of at least 13 months.
  • Information on previous visas and entry dates.
  • Documentation proving the membership in the invited delegation, such as an official letter of invitation from the Permanent Secretariat, Vice Presidents, Vice Chairpersons of the National Assembly, Deputy Prime Ministers, Chairpersons of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Chief Justice, Head of the Supreme People’s Procuracy, State Auditor General, invited members of equivalent rank from ministries, Provincial Party Committees, district Party Committees, Presidents of People’s Councils, Chairpersons of provincial People’s Committees, centrally governed cities.
  • Letter requesting entry according to form NA2.

Submission Location for Visa Application: NG2 Visa applications can be submitted at the Immigration Department or Immigration Management Office.

Processing Time: The processing time for NG2 Visa applications is within 5 working days from the date of receiving the complete documents.

NG2 Visa Extension Procedure: To extend the NG2 Visa, applicants need to submit the following documents:

  • Original passport of the foreign national.
  • Confirmation letter of being a member of the invited delegation.
  • Visa extension request form NA5.
