What is NG4 Visa? Eligible Candidates for NG4 Visa

NG4 Visa, one of Vietnam’s diplomatic visas, is issued to foreign nationals for the purpose of working or visiting members of foreign diplomatic missions, consulates, and other similar organizations. NG4 Visa is a diplomatic visa issued by Vietnam, specifically designed for:

  1. Individuals working with foreign diplomatic missions, consulates, international organizations under the United Nations, or intergovernmental organizations.
  2. Individuals visiting members of foreign diplomatic missions, consulates, international organizations under the United Nations, or intergovernmental organizations.

Validity Period of NG4 Visa: The NG4 Visa is valid for up to 12 months. Therefore, foreign nationals are granted an NG4 Visa with a maximum duration of one year and cannot obtain a temporary residence card. In case the visa is near expiration and the foreign national wishes to continue staying in Vietnam, they must apply for a new visa according to regulations.

Requirements for Obtaining NG4 Visa:

  1. Possession of a valid passport or internationally recognized travel document.
  2. Invitation or guarantee from a recognized organization in Vietnam.
  3. Not falling under the categories prohibited from entry as prescribed.

Invitation and Guarantee Procedures for Foreign Nationals Entering Vietnam on NG4 Visa: To apply for an NG4 Visa, the inviting or guaranteeing organization in Vietnam must first send a written request for visa issuance to the competent authority of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The competent authority of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs the immigration control authority through written communication.

After 2 working days, if the immigration control authority does not raise any objections, the competent authority of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will reply to the inviting or guaranteeing organization and inform the consular office of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the foreign country to issue the visa for the foreign national (if applicable).

Documents Required for NG4 Visa Application: Foreign nationals need to complete the NG4 Visa application process at the consular office of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the foreign country. The required documents include:

  1. Original passport of the foreign national.
  2. 02 passport-sized photos taken within the last 6 months.
  3. Visa application form for Vietnam – Form NA1.
  4. Supporting documents proving the purpose of work or visit to members of foreign diplomatic missions, consulates, international organizations under the United Nations, or intergovernmental organizations.
  5. Additional documents as required for specific cases.

Processing Time for NG4 Visa: From the date of receiving the notification from the Immigration Control Department/ Competent authority of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and valid documents (passport, visa application form with attached photo), the consular office of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the foreign country will process the NG4 Visa within 3 working days.
